Brandon Scholz has served as the President and CEO of the Wisconsin Grocers Association since 1997.  He directs the statewide, member trade group representing the retail food and grocery industry.  He serves on the WGA’s Foundation Board of Governors, the National Grocers Association’s Government Relations Committee, is a past Board Member and Chairman of the Food Industry Association Executives and the NGA Board of Directors.  He has been recognized by a number of trade groups for his association work in the grocery industry including the NGA’s 2014 National Leadership Award, FMI’s MacManus Award.
Prior to joining the WGA, he served as the Director of Public Affairs for Wisconsin Power & Light, one of Wisconsin's largest utilities.  Capping a 15-year career in local, state and national politics, Scholz served as a Congressional Chief of Staff directing both the Washington and Wisconsin offices.
Scholz is a founding partner in The Capitol Group, a government and public affairs consulting firm (www.capgroupwi.om) located in Madison and has represented a wide variety of clients in the business sector since 2001.  He serves as the Executive Director of Wisconsin Small Businesses United as well as the Managing Partner of the Wisconsin Propane Gas Association.
His professional and civic involvement include serving on the boards of Wisconsin Executive Residence Foundation, WisconsinEye, Hunting Works for Wisconsin and WisPolitics.com Advisory Board He has also served on Second Harvest of Wisconsin, Council on Public Utility Benefits, Digital Television Conversion, Wisconsin Tobacco Control Board, the Wisconsin State Elections Board, the Governor’s Blue Ribbon Commission on Campaign Finance Reform, Friends of WHA-TV as well as numerous legislative committees and gubernatorial commissions.  He appears on a variety of television and radio shows as a political analyst and business industry spokesman.  Scholz has served as a volunteer in the White House Office of Presidential Advance for President George W. Bush.
Scholz is an avid fly fisher and hunter and maintains a solid 28 handicap on the golf course.  He holds a B.S. in Management and a B.A. in Public Administration from Alfred University, Alfred, New York and resides in Middleton with his wife Carla and daughters Emma and Avery.  His daughter Betsy works as the Social Worker at John Muir Elementary in Madison.
