
Fernando Romero
Fernando Romero, is a 49-year resident of Las Vegas, where he has actively participated in numerous education, civic, social and political organizations with the goal of informing, educating and empowering the Hispanic community.
His active community involvement started in 1969 when he volunteered to direct the Nevada Association of Latin Americans' education, civic, social service and employment agency. Fernando is a 1970 graduate of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, where he founded the Student Organization of Latinos, a student advocacy organization still active in many high schools.
In 1974, he became one of the pioneers of Spanish-language radio, hosting a program that brought news and music from throughout the Spanish-speaking world to Las Vegas at a time when Spanish-language newspapers, radio and television were non-existent.
