Encourage candidates to address issue of chronic illness

During our state’s presidential primary debate this spring, there was great focus on job growth in Wisconsin and whether or not we’re on the winning or losing end of the economic spectrum. Missing from the debate was any mention of the tens of billions of dollars we lose
annually as a result of the escalation in chronic disease rates in the state.
It is estimated that there are 3.4 million people in our state who have at least one chronic illness like cancer, diabetes, heart disease, asthma or hypertension, and that number is growing. Clearly, this needs to be part of the conversation before the elections in November.
