Mary Andrus

Government Relations, Easterseals

Mary Andrus is an Assistant Vice President for Government Relations for Easter Seals.  Mary’s responsibilities include health care reform legislation and implementation, Medicare and Medicaid policy, the Children’s Health Insurance Program, policy related to autism and comparative effectiveness research.  She is a co-chair for the Health Task Force for the Consortium for Citizen’s with Disabilities and served as the chair of the Government Relations Affinity Group for the National Health Council.

In 2007, Mary came to Easter Seals after 24 years on the staff of Congressman Jim Leach from Iowa.  She had been the Legislative Director and had responsibility for health care, social services, education, labor, civil rights and veterans’ issues.  Prior to completing her Master’s in Social Work at the University of Iowa and coming to Washington, DC, she had been a medical social worker and a respiratory therapy technician in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
